COMMUNICATION
True conversation is an interpenetration of worlds, a genuine intercourse of souls, which doesn't have to be self-consciously profound but does have to touch matters of concern to the soul.
~ Thomas Moore, 1940- ~
In taking advantage, hopefully not abuse, of IT, we hope to update you on developments with us by means of this occasional newsletter. We will also pass on information we think may be of interest to the community of awareness developers and consciousness change agents. We hope you will complete the circuit by sending feedback and input.
APPRECIATION
By appreciation, we make excellence in others our own property.
~ Francois-Marie Voltaire, 1694-1778 ~
We welcome Kelly Munly, our marketing representative-at-large, who may yet segue into documentation and training in Wisdom Method. She is already a certified TM instructor. One of her ideas is undergoing product development and we are very excited about it.
CONGRUENCE
There is a method of appealing to one's own intuitive judgment, of thinking out one's own ideas and forming one's own independent judgments, and confessing them in public with a childish impudence, and sure enough, some kindred souls in another corner of the world will agree with you. A person forming his ideas in this manner will often be astounded to discover how another writer said exactly the same things and felt exactly the same way, but perhaps expressed the ideas more easily and more gracefully.
~ Lin Yutang, 1895-1976 ~
We were gratified to receive an e-mail with copious quotations from Swami Dhyan Giten, a spiritual teacher in Sweden, with permission to publish them. They fit perfectly into our opus, Wisdom for the Soul: Five Millennia of Prescriptions for Spiritual Healing and demand a new edition to include them. We will feature some of them in these sporadic missives and online. His book, The Silent Whisperings of the Heart - A Collection of Quotes from Giten, will be published soon by The Mandala Press. Visit his website at www.giten.net. We'll be hearing a lot more about him.
CONNECTION
There are roads out of the secret places within us along which we must all move as we go to touch others.
~ Romare Bearden, 1914-1988 ~
KarmaFest will take place on October 14 and 15, 2006, in the beautiful woods of Harford County, Maryland (near Bel Air, MD - 30 minutes north east of Baltimore). There will be free ISHTA yoga instruction, guided imagery meditation, and shamanic journeys. Additionally, patrons can pay to get Reiki, massage, reflexology, etc. (or just relax and enjoy the music, being with friends, holistic products, arts and crafts, and the day out in nature.
If you are interested in attending, or being a vendor, please go to the KarmaFest website for further information: www.KarmaFest.com, or email hawsejourneywithin@yahoo.com with any questions. They are calling for shaman-type drum makers.
GROWTH
Slow growth is the surest guarantee of success. For the perfect fruit, we need a slow ripening -- sunshine as well as rain, failure as well as success.
~ Henrietta Szold, 1860-1945 ~
After a hiatus of two years during which time we were focused on getting WFTS to press, work has resumed on posting the entire volume online. This will take a while yet to complete as the manuscript is converted to HTML in-house in between filling orders, going to the post office and paying bills. You are still encouraged to purchase the book as it is a worthy object in itself and to support our work.
New sections added:
Delusion
Dependence
Depression/Despair/Distress
Desire
Detachment
Determination/Persistence/Resolve
Differentiation/Division/Separation
Diligence
Direction
Compared with an older page like Attention / Awareness or Centering , you'll agree that the new design is an improvement. Eventually, all the category pages will look alike but we give priority to getting the content online rather than to revamping what is already accessible.
OPPORTUNITY
Today a thousand doors of enterprise are open to you, inviting you to useful work. To live at this time is an inestimable privilege, and a sacred obligation devolves upon you to make right use of your opportunities.
~ Grenville Kleiser, 1868-1953 ~
Our calendar is filling up as we welcome the chance to meet and interact with seekers across the country. Last month we were at the Body, Mind & Spirit Expo in Raleigh, NC. (DHL saved the day by making an extraordinary Saturday delivery. If you ship, try their service. Their rates are very competitive and being No. 3, they try harder.)
HUMOR
Mingle some brief folly with your wisdom.
~ Horace, 65-8 BCE ~
Did you hear about the Buddhist who refused Novocaine during a root canal? His goal: transcend dental medication.
LEARNING
We can learn how to tap, harness, and express our power in ways that also empower others. We can learn the ways of serving our world and ourselves. We can learn how to be connected and mutually co-creative. We can learn how to appreciate this world and how to laugh with it and within it, and how to have fun. We can learn how to play in appropriate ways ... and re-create ourselves. The tools, and the people offering them, are out there in the public arena. Just ensure that the tools you choose and the teachers you listen to respect and empower you, that they help you unfold yourself in new and richer ways, and don't just use you to help themselves feel at home as teachers and experts.
~ David Spangler, 1945- ~

OPENNESS / RECEPTIVITY
By being receptive, we can avail ourselves of the spiritual wealth available to us.
By being open, we can receive things beyond what we ourselves might imagine.
